Early in St. Gabriel's history, we decided to adopt a fellowship activity
for adults that had worked well in other parishes to build a stronger sense
of community.
Small dinner groups, on the
first Friday evening of each month, are hosted by different parishioners on a
volunteer basis.
These are informal
pot-luck soup and salad meals for the adults of the parish. A chance to meet
and talk on a regular basis without the need for a formal occasion.
There is more time to talk than at coffee hour, and little distraction.
Each
person attending is asked to sign up to bring something to share that would
complement a soup prepared by the hosts: a salad, bread, desert or wine or a
small donation (~$2) to defray their costs.
Signing up in the narthex, phone call or a quick email is very helpful for
the planning of the hosts, but a last minute drop in is always welcome. The
time is 6:30pm - 8:00pm, the place is announced in the Weekly Bulletin or
the Messenger.
